VIDEO: Senator Cory Gardner on the federal ‘STATES Act’ legislation

U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) recently sat down with Matt Kibbe from the organization Free the People for a video interview (see below) about the STATES Act, of which Gardner is a lead sponsor.   The Act, according to Gardner, takes a federalism approach to the marijuana issue, allowing states to be the “laboratories of democracy that the Founders intended states to be.”

“If a state has decided to legalize marijuana or hemp, any of the spectrum of marijuana and hemp issues, then it’s no longer an illegal activity,” said Gardner. “It’s a two page bill that simply says a state can do it, and if a state does it, then that federal prohibition no longer applies.”
