Update: Harmony has been adopted.
Harmony is a 2-3 year old mid-size female shepherd mix who is available for adoption. While this girl has had a tough go of it, her sweet demeanor would make for a loving and loyal companion animal or family pet.
Just six months ago Harmony was a candidate for euthanasia, having been picked up as a stray with a badly broken pelvis and shattered hind legs. That’s not a story that usually ends well. But today she will joyously chase a squirrel out of the yard, and flips her lid when the leash comes out for walks thanks to the vets at Denver’s Planned Pethood, who took on her difficult surgeries and rehab.
Dr. Jeff Young’s high volume, low cost vet clinic has developed a national reputation for taking on tough cases via the hit TV show, “Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet,” now in its seventh season on Animal Planet.
Harmony likes to ride in the car and is house-trained. She can use a dog door, but is still leery of walking on linoleum and wood floors (wouldn’t you be if you spent months hopping on your forelegs?) but with some time and patience, she should be sliding around corners with the best of them. She won’t be training for marathons anytime soon, and may never be 100 percent, but she is cleared for 30 or so minute walks, which she clearly enjoys (see video), and should only improve with time and care.
