U.S. meets greenie targets without signing Kyoto Treaty

The Watts Up With That? blog reports that the Energy Information Administration data show that the U.S. is now the only country to have met the Kyoto Protocol standard for reducing CO2 emissions, shown by the blue line in the first graph below.   The U.S. is also the only country that didn’t sign the Kyoto Treaty.

The lesson?  Well, you can draw your own conclusions, but first check out the second graph below showing real disposable personal income.  People with lower incomes use less energy, with the result that poverty equals fewer CO2 emissions.  So one possibility is that trashing the economy is helping to meet radical environmentalist demands.
